The Therapy Process

My style of counseling is warm and engaging, respectful, practical, and interactive. I provide a counseling experience that is individualized and paced to meet your needs. Clients say that they enjoy talking with me and feel that someone finally understands them and their struggle.

I am interested in making sure that you are heard and that we work on ways to get your counseling needs met. I consider myself an active therapist committed to providing the best therapy options for the individual. I will work with your to develop strategies designed to help you achieve your personal goals and get on with life.

My role is to be fully present with my clients as we work toward greater understanding of the issues and history involved. Through the use of many tools, including EMDR, we clarify goals and work toward solutions.

Through the therapeutic relationship I encourage examination of a variety of factors that may be contributing to current problems.  These factors include early and current influential experiences with family, friends, or romantic relationships. Other important influences include beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors that no longer work for you.

During individual therapeutic work, it might be helpful to include other family members or significant others in therapy. Or conversely, during couple or family work, it may be suggested that individual work would be beneficial. These options will be explored during the therapy process.

Since EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Clinical Hypnosis are integral parts of my practice, these forms of therapy may be suggested. You will be provided will all the necessary information about these therapies to make an informed decision before embarking on the process.
